The Importance Of Content Marketing

Today, its about content marketing. Content marketing is providing relevant, useful information to people interested in what you have to offer, how and when they want it. Through the internet, people can get whatever information they want, how and when they want it. People are bombarded with over 5,000 messages a day! If you don’t provide relevant, useful information, how and when people want it, they will tune you out. First, you need to determine who is interested in your information. Second, what are they interested? Third, how to deliver it to them?

First, you need to determine your target market. What demographics make up your target market? Who is interested in what you offer? Who wants or needs what you’re offering? Where are they located? What is their gender, age, education, income level, interests, etc.

Second, you need to determine what they’re interested in. You can do a keyword search or use Google ad words. This will determine your content. What do they want and need? What problems do they have that you can solve. What pain do they have that you can alleviate? What questions do they have? What can you educate them about? How can you entertain them?

Third, how can reach them? What are the different channels that you can use to deliver your message to them? What channels do they use? There are innumerable channels to disseminate information. Traditional advertising channels, radio, tv and print, can be used to distribute content. What radio stations do they listen to? You could host your own talk show, guest on a talk show or do a short-form feature of 2-3 minutes. What tv stations do they watch? You could do an infomercial. What publications do they read? You could run an advertorial. Most people use email. Build an email database by getting people to opt-in to your email list. Offer something to get them to opt-in. Offer your blog, newsletter, specials, ebook, whitepaper or e-zine. Ask people you meet through networking. Have an opt-in button on your website homepage. Have a subscribe button on your blog. Use Infusionsoft, Constant Contact or Mail Chimp to send out your emails. You could also provide this information on your website. Optimize your website for SEO with keywords, links and backlinks, embedded videos and blogs so people will find your site though Google searches. Most people use Social Media. What channels do they use? Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram. Create a profile, business page, group, community and channel. Post, share, tweet, retweet, pin, repin, upload videos and promote your blog. Respond to and comment on people’s posts, shares, tweets, pins, videos and blogs. Use keywords and hashtags. Most people prefer watching videos over reading. Produce your own videos. Upload them to your YouTube channel, embed them on your website, publish them on your blog, email them to your email database and upload them to your social media sites. Write a blog. Send out your blog through email and your social media sites. What networking events do they attend? Distribute your brochure, newsletter and whitepaper through networking events.
