Roman W. Ulman is a native of Detroit, Michigan.  After graduating from Wayne State University with a BA in Political Science, Roman worked with the City of Detroit Department of Lighting, ultimately rising to the position of commission administrative coordinator and acting deputy director.

Roman has been very active in the labor movement, serving on the executive board of the American Federation of State, Municipal and County Employees in Detroit, President of AFSCME local 1329, and as a member of the executive board of the AFL-CIO in Detroit.  Currently, Roman is the executive director and lobbyist for AFSCME Arizona.  He has over 40 years of experience in labor-management relations.

In addition to his experience in the labor movement, Roman has been very active in Democratic Party politics in Michigan and Arizona.  He was a Michigan State Democratic Party Officer for 22 years and a delegate to the 1980 Democratic Party Presidential Convention.  Roman has been active in Democratic Party politics in Arizona since 1993, starting with the District 21 Democratic Organization.  He is currently a delegate of the Arizona State Democratic Party and its Parliamentarian.  Roman is also the chair of the Arizona State Democratic Party Labor Caucus and is the chair of the East Valley Democratic Party Breakfast Club.

Roman has extensive radio experience in the Phoenix marketing, originating the “Arizona at Work Show.”  He also was the host of “America at Work” at www.TheJeffFariasShow.com on the weekends.  The show also aired on Roots Up Radio, an online radio station out of Madison, Wisconsin and in Louisville KY on WXBH 92.3.

For the past 47 years, Roman has been married to his wife Irene.  They have 4 children and 11 grand children.

 

Voice of Democracy - Arizona is a weekly radio show hosted by Roman Ulman. It airs live from 7-8AM MST on KFNX 1100AM. Listeners can also stream the video live on the Internet by going to KFNX. It has been on the air in Phoenix since 2007.

We have done multiple programs on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, ACA/Obamacare, Education, Dark Money, Public Corruption, Sequester, Veterans Affairs, Women’s Rights, Children’s Rights, Anti-war, Immigration Reform, Worker’s Rights, Minimum Wages, Pension Rights, Private Prisons, Ethics in Government, Conservation, Climate Change, Gun Violence, Hate Crimes, Community Issues, and much more.

We have had many guests on the program, including office holders, community leaders, business owners, public activists, retirees, health professionals, labor leaders and others. Our guests include Democrats, Republicans and Independents.  Our programs averages at least 4 call ins by listeners.
