Tommy Runfola is the author of The Way of the Rich, host of the nationally syndicated radio talk show ‘Makin’ It!’ and Co-Founder & President of the TMR Group, Tommy Runfola Personal Development, Wavtext Digital Systems, and passionately led Prep Academy Schools for over a decade. He has bought and sold over $50 million worth of businesses and became a rags-to-riches millionaire in his early 30s.
Tommy was featured on CNN, NBC, FOX TV and in Time Magazine, Judicature, Wall Street Journal, PC Week, the Columbus Dispatch, Small Business News. He has 35 years plus entrepreneurial experience in the technology, education, consumer products and legal support services industry.
He is a leader in adopting and developing cutting edge legal technology and has developed several education apps in addition to being “the Presidents choice” having personally worked with 5 U.S. presidents and Vice Presidents.
Tommy has also handled such clients as Dupont, Exxon, the Jeffrey Weigand Tobacco Whistle Blower Case – which was made into an AWARD-WINNING HOLLYWOOD MOVIE starring Russel Crowe as Jeffrey Weigand, – and the Beverly Hills Supper Club litigation.
He was a former Concert Promoter, has worked in over 40 US States and in over 20 Foreign Countries, and served on the Board of Directors, and was a stockholder and founding member of a Television Network.
His speaking engagements include Auburn University, Penn State University, Ohio State University, Capital University, Kent State University, Ball State University, University of Hawaii, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Nationwide Insurance Company, The American Bar Association, The National Judicial College, 12 State Legislatures and Supreme Courts, The Federal Judicial Center, along with numerous other appearances in the United States, Canada, Russia and the Ukraine.
He received a commendation from the General Assembly of the State of Ohio and the Ohio House of Representatives, he is a Former Board Member of the Board of Directors of Alternate Residences, Inc., an organization which finds housing for the mentally retarded.
Tommy was honored by a special resolution and commendation by the Ohio Legislature for, “Outstanding professional accomplishments and as being one of Ohio’s most dynamic and energetic citizens.” Runfola is a former high school football standout and Golden Gloves boxer. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and received a Bachelors Degree from Trinity College and University.

VERTEX Foods has used their proprietary blends to create specialized food items such as invigorating vitamin-enhanced juices, protein baked goods, protein pizzas, protein shakes, detoxifying juice & food cleanses, protein oatmeal, energy drinks. Currently in development is a proprietary oxygenated water, as well as energy bar. VERTEX Foods’ products are targeted to busy on-the-go individuals, healthy lifestyle enthusiasts and athletes.
VERTEX also owns and operates a private upscale sports and fitness center, Body by Todd Studio.
Before creating VERTEX Foods, Todd started a private fitness center franchising business and sold over 100 franchises before selling the company itself. During this time he also became a Celebrity Personal Trainer, Certified Sports Nutritionist, and was an on-air host of the lifestyle show “Todd Tips” on NBC TV, which was featured twice daily for over 7 years & 3,000 episodes. He also gained experience as a producer on that show. Todd also has previous experience hosting his own radio show which aired for 3 years on WNCI FM. During this time as well, he produced and starred in a successful infomercial featuring his own product line.
Over the years Todd has appeared on TV for shows such as: MTV’s Made, ABC-TV New York, KTLA, The Today Show, ESPN. Recently, Todd was included on MSNBC-TV’s 2014 list “The Grio: 100 Most Influential Leaders Making History” for the ‘Business’ category. Others on the list include: Jamie Foxx, Colin Powell, Faith Jenkins, Pharrell Williams, Floyd Mayweather, Jozy Altidore, and Jamba Juice CEO James White.
His high school and college sports background includes football, track, basketball and martial arts.
Todd attended The Ohio State University where he majored in Kinesiology with a minor in Business. He also participated in Buckeye athletics. He started his first company during freshman year of college.
He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Prior to becoming a full-time entrepreneur in his early 20s, Todd’s corporate work experiences include management at Victoria Secret / L-Brands, and United Parcel Service.
In addition to VERTEX, Todd is the founder and managing partner of T4 Marketing + Media.
